As a component of our ongoing efforts to enhance the diversity, equity, and inclusion of our campus, Colgate joined the Consortium for Faculty Diversity (CFD), which was founded as an association of liberal arts colleges “committed to strengthening the ethnic diversity of students and faculty members at liberal arts colleges.”

Colgate is committed to ensuring comprehensive educational access for all registered students seeking to meet course and curricular requirements and full participation in University programs and activities.

I write today to offer remembrances of Alexander (Sasha) Nakhimovsky, Associate Professor of Linguistics, Emeritus, who passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2024.

We hope that your classes are going smoothly. We write to bring to your attention —especially if you are new to Colgate — to two institutional resources that might be of interest as you plan your teaching and/or research for this academic year.

I write to provide you with information on this year’s self-report process.

Colgate continues to support faculty involvement in conference participation and/or attendance. Eligible faculty (described below) are given an allotment of up to $2,250 per year to attend or present at professional meetings.

This edition of Research Council Grants and Leaves at Colgate contains the most recent information on funds available in support of scholarship from the Research Council.

The rhythm of the academic year provides us with a number of opportunities to come together as a full faculty. In the fall semester, we gather on the first Monday of every month for faculty meetings; in the spring, we shift to the last Monday of the month.

I write with the sad news that John Gallucci, professor of Romance Languages and Literatures passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.

As we welcome July and the beginning of a new academic cycle, allow me to offer one last announcement about leadership in the Provost and Dean of the Faculty (PDOF) Division.
