º£½ÇÉçÇø publicly launched the most significant philanthropic campaign in its 203-year history on Friday, April 22, kicking off the largest such campaign undertaken by a liberal arts college.

Trustee Emeritus Chase Carey ’76, his wife, Wendy, and their children Steve ’12 and Tara ’13 have made a transformative $25 million gift to spearhead a comprehensive renovation of the Reid Athletic Center and support other elements of the University’s Third-Century Plan.

º£½ÇÉçÇø has announced the creation of four new endowed chairs, approved by the Board of Trustees during its January 2022 meeting, all made possible due to the generosity of Colgate alumni. 

Trustee emeritus Robert Fox ’59, GP’23,’25 has given $10 million to build Fox Hall at º£½ÇÉçÇø, the first residence hall of the University’s fifth Residential Commons. The gift was acknowledged by the Board of Trustees during its fall meeting, Sept. 30–Oct. 1.

Members of the º£½ÇÉçÇø classes of 2022–25 will now benefit from an additional expansion of the University’s no-loan initiative under the Colgate Commitment.

On June 1, º£½ÇÉçÇø announced the Colgate Commitment: An Initiative in Access and Affordability.

Daniel Benton ’80, P’10, H’10 has secured his place as Colgate’s most generous benefactor, making a $25 million gift in support of the University’s Middle Campus Plan for Arts, Creativity, and Innovation and other elements within The Third-Century Plan.

Seven º£½ÇÉçÇø alumni joined Forbes Magazine’s 30 Under 30 list for 2020.

º£½ÇÉçÇø’s 15th president, Rebecca S. Chopp, will be recognized for her leadership with an endowed chair in the humanities, named in her honor.

The Third-Century Plan, unveiled last May, underscores the University’s intention to recruit scholars of the first order for new tenure-track teaching positions. In keeping with its ambitious plan, Colgate is announcing a series of enhancements to faculty hiring packages.
