Gaeilge, the Irish language, has been far from a working language for centuries 鈥 however, it is intricately tied to Irish history and culture. Mackenzie has been involved with Haven, Colgate鈥檚 sexual violence resource center, since their first year and has largely shaped her academic path around this work, focusing their Women鈥檚 Studies senior project on responses to sexual violence on campus. Using the AMS grant allowed Mackenzie to gain new perspectives by attending a week-long training called Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience at the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, VA.April 25, 2022
