The Center for Women鈥檚 Studies is a multipurpose academic, cultural, and social space where the Colgate community can gather to discuss topics like feminist theory and praxis, queer identities, intersectionality, privilege, race, and oppression.
Historically, it has been a space for students and student groups to gather and advocate for a variety of different issues, and is home to the Women鈥檚, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, LGBTQ+ Studies, and LGBTQ+ Initiatives offices.
The Community Space

The Women鈥檚 Center is a vibrant, safe place for learning and gathering. Relax or get some work done in our lounge, or check out our library filled with print resources on women鈥檚 studies, gender, sexuality, women鈥檚 health, race, and feminist theory.
Our space has couches to nap in, is set up for movie screenings, has smaller work and discussion spaces, and a classroom for more closed events. We also have a kitchen stocked with snacks, tea, and coffee. We also support students in need with supplies they may need for classes or workshops. Contact us to book the Women鈥檚 Center for an upcoming event or meeting.
Upcoming Events
Throughout the year, the Center for Women's Studies hosts events, including a weekly Brown Bag Lunch. These informal lunches bring professors, students, and visiting speakers to present on myriad topics involving gender and sexuality.
(Past events are for Colgate employees and students only)
