Therese Frauendorf is interested in the impacts of human-related stressors on freshwater ecosystems. Her research has included measuring the impacts of climate-driven changes in rainfall, introduced species, and the interaction of the two factors; the decline in hippos on large river communities; impacts of amphibian declines; and the effects of genetically modified corn on agricultural headwaters. She is keen to understand how these factors change nutrient cycling, community composition and food web dynamics in rivers and streams to inform strategies that mitigate the impacts of these stressors.
